| Abstract: | Two dance theatre pieces-_with some text and a lot of physical performance--_that can be performed together or separately._In the first, inspired by the classic tale of Thyestes,_it is all nightmare and despair and darkness._In the second, inspired by the classic tale of Daphnis and Chloe,_it is all love and loveliness and light. 10-12 actors A NOTE ON THE TEXT: This piece is based, of course, on the story of Daphnis and Chloe, and incorporates texts from E.F. Watling's translation of Seneca's Thyestes, C.K. Scott-Moncrieff's translation of Proust's Swann's Way, and http://grouphug.us/page/0/p, and it incorporates, too, a good many moments from the paintings of the Nabis. |
